New vigilante hero Major Maverick has been roaming the CUM campus. Bystanders are curious as to who this mysterious new champion of the people is.

Many people have noticed that he bears a striking resemblance to a certain mascot of a certain university.

“I mean I guess it makes sense that Major Maverick is a Maverick, but his horns and mavroon coloring really remind me of our mascot Rowdy,” sophomore anthropology major Zoe Cabbage said.

The vigilante has been spotted around town helping out local old people and protecting students and community members’ right to free speech by fighting super villain The Misinformer.

Conspiracy theories blossomed across campus. Some students made TikTok videos laying out their theories for just who could be behind Major Maverick’s mask.

“The most unusual thing about Major Maverick is that he’s on campus super often it feels like, but for some reason I’ve never seen Major Maverick and Rowdy in the same place,” freshman criminal justice major Ashtyn Katcher said.

Mass communications major Belinda Bee posted a ten-part series surrounding this hotly debated topic. Bee proposes that Maverick and Rowdy are not actually the same person but that they are in fact long lost twin brothers.

“I mean it seems so obvious to me,” Bee stated in part eight of her series. “It’s clear that the reason they haven’t been seen together is because they’re not ready to work through the trauma of being separated at birth, and I’m sure that Rowdy also doesn’t want to blow his brother’s cover.”

The Anti-Crite went to Rowdy himself in an attempt about Major Maverick for this article, but the mascot refused to comment on the matter, on account of the fact that he basically never speaks. However, Major Maverick did provide some insight while not revealing his secret identity.

“Well, the implication that Rowdy and I are the same person or brothers because we share similar features is a little presumptuous in my eyes, as we are both Mavericks, and naturally will share features like horns and such,” Major Maverick.

Rowdy has gone through many phases in his appearance. Most notably, he went through an angy-boi demon era in the early 2000s, sporting yellow eyes with slit pupils. He embraced a new fur and eye color in 2008 and updated his look again in 2021.

He accomplished this transformation with plastic surgery, including but not limited to: pigmentation alteration surgery to achieve his mavroon fur color, a cosmetic rhinoplasty with a jaw and chin raise for his new nose and jaw, a face-lift, lip filler, eyebrow filler, forehead reduction surgery and a phalloplasty.

The relation, if any, of Major Maverick and Rowdy remains unclear and undetermined, but the Anti-Crite remains determined to get to the bottom of the matter eventually.
