Colorado Mesa University (CMU) was led by Jared Small with 13 points along with four rebounds as Small was playing against his former high school teammate Monroe Porter. Tommy Nuno also made a big impact in the game for the Mavericks as he had eight points, six rebounds and seven assists.

The first half was controlled by the Mountaineers defense, as they forced CMU to shoot 35.71 percent from the floor and 12.5 percent from the three-point arc. Through the first ten minutes of the half, there were only 21 combined points scored, but WCU started hitting their shots to get a four-point lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Mavericks came out as a different team as they shot 62.96 percent from the field and took control of the game. CMU opened the half up with a 24-7 run through the first ten minutes of the second half. It didn’t end there either as the Mavericks kept their foot on the gas pedal and drove the lead up to 22 points as they won the final game of their three-game homestand.
