We truly live in a diverse and changing world. None so is more apparent than in our very own athletic conference. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) has accepted an entry bid from Pixar’s very own Monsters University (MU).
“The RMAC has been looking to expand and diversify its number of schools, whether human or not. Monsters University brings athletes from all sorts of different backgrounds and species to the conference”, RMAC President Troy Brown said.
Colorado Mesa University (CMU) and the RMAC pride themselves on competing against the best of the best. Even if the “best” is a gigantic furry bear-like creature with horns named Sully who can easily maim and even kill the other competitors on the field.
MU looks to use the opportunity for much-needed scare practice which was heavily impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It was tough to practice scaring humans during the shutdown while following pandemic mandates. Now to make up for lost hours, we get to have a blast scare humans under the guise of ‘athletic competition’. Isn’t it great? We get to terrorize humans at school and at home. I think that is a Win-Win,” MU President Mike Wazowski said.
Some students thought MU can bring some much-needed excitement to what has been a consistent and rather dull lineup of RMAC schools.
“It is like ‘yeah football is fun, but you know what would be funner? Watching some monsters I have known since childhood mauling each other during a hockey scrap,” Exercise Science major Thad Castleberry said.
CMU more than likely knows that it cannot compete with the behemoths from MU. CMU is actually hoping to take advantage of a talent-saturated student body through the transfer portal.
“Honestly what we really hope to gain through this comes through the transfer portal. I mean, if we can snag a humanoid-like creature that can pitch at Mach 2 speeds, it is a complete game-changer. If we do not recruit these creatures, someone else will,” Athletic Director Bryan Rooks said.
The inclusion of MU into the RMAC and subsequent is just another way that CMU is ahead of the curve and looking toward a better tomorrow.
