The MLB continues to make headlines as one of their best players has stepped down and has decided to go back to college.

Mike Trout has decided to come back to college at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), but he is taking a new step. Trout has decided to play lacrosse for CMU saying that, “baseball just was too easy for me, and I felt I wanted to challenge myself.”

Trout hasn’t decided if he wants to play attack, defense or goalie since those positions don’t have to run as much as midfield. His skills translate well to the goalie position of having to react in split seconds.

He said that the goalie position would let him translate his skills but he never got to play football and a six-foot pole sounded fun to use. He can wack people with it and lay people out which sounded like fun to him.

The Mavericks and Trout agreed that he would be able to decide on a position as long as he felt comfortable with it. His size and athleticism will translate well to the lacrosse field and the Mavericks believe that he will be a very valuable piece of the team.

Trout chose to come to CMU after Colorado State University-Pueblo refused to allow him on campus after saying it would be too much of a distraction. Trout then chose the best team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference saying that he felt they could compete for a national championship.

Trout wants a place where he can compete for titles, and he felt that CMU was the best place to do that rather than the Angels.
