After beating Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSUP) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament Championship game, the Mavericks will now advance to the NCAA Regional tournament.
Colorado Mesa University (CMU) will see a familiar face in the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) Orediggers. CMU will host the game as they claimed the fourth seed in their region.
The Mavericks come off of a 3-1 win against CSUP who got into the tournament with being the No.8 seed and will take on Seattle Pacific on Nov.19.
The Orediggers and Mavericks are used to close and big games when competing against each other and Saturday will be no different. The last time these two played on Oct. 29, CSM took the win to claim the RMAC regular season title in a 1-2 win in double overtime.
These two teams also faced off in the shortened spring season in the RMAC championship game. The game went in the favor of the Orediggers as the game went into overtime and they won 3-4.
That game was arguably the best game of redshirt sophomore forward Alec Fronapfel’s career at CMU as he scored all three of CMU’s goals.
Fronapfel and the Mavericks look for their revenge against the Orediggers on Nov.20 at 6 p.m. on Community Hospital Unity Field in Grand Junction, Colo.
