Each Maverick placed in the top 20 individually, but the team finished two strokes behind the first-place team; Westminster College.
The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Women’s golf team finished second in Pueblo, Colo. this week. The team saw its best placement of the season at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invite with a score of 623 points.
Graduate student Hannah More led the team with a final score of 149 and a third-place finish. She also hit the lowest second-round score for the Mavericks shooting a 72. This would be More’s best finish this season.
Graduate student Randi Kim tied for eighth place. She put up a score of 78 in the second round of the tournament, one more stroke than the first round.
Redshirt sophomore Elly Walters tied for 13 place, with a score of 160. Walters finished 16 over par.
Redshirt freshman Crystle Querol had the same score in each round with an 81. Her total scorecard of 162 allowed her to tie for 16 place.
Rounding out the Mavericks team is sophomore Brea Tyrus. Tyrus finished with a 163 and an 85 in the second round. She tied for 20 place.
The Maverick’s finished with a total of 86 pars along with 22. They also had a tournament-best team average score on holes that were par 4 with a score of 4.40.
The Mavericks Albuquerque, NM to compete in the Skyhawk Fall Women’s Intercollegiate tournament. The tournament starts on Oct. 19 at 8 a.m.
