Six strokes separate the Maverick golfers.
The Mavericks sit in third place with a team score of 575 and they are five strokes out of first place. Western New Mexico University is in first place after day one of the South Central Region
Freshman Yael Chahin led Colorado Mesa University (CMU) with a score of 142 and is currently tied for tenth. He has a score of 68 in the second round as he shaved 6 strokes off his score from the first round.
Redshirt freshman Peter Grossenbacher finished tied for 13 with a score of 143. He shot two under par in the first round keeping him high on the leaderboards prior to shooting 73 in the second round.
Redshirt junior Kyle Pearson teed of first for CMU and shot 69 in the first round. Pearson’s score and his leaderboard standing dipped as he shot 77 in the second round. He finished the day tied for 23.
Redshirt freshman Ethan Bishop and junior Dane Anger both ended the day with a score of 148. They are tied for 30, along with three other golfers on three different teams.
Bishop and Anger finished with the same scores of 73 and 75 but they had those scores in different rounds.
The Mavericks rank second in the tournament in birdies with 35. These also rank fourth among the field in pars with 107.
