The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Women’s Golf Team ended its first tournament of the season in third place.
The Mavericks started their season off strong with a third-place team finish in the Swan Memorial Tournament by collectively scoring 623 points. The team only finished 6 strokes behind Westminster College and ten strokes behind first-place finishers University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

Consistency was key for redshirt freshman Crystle Querol throughout her two rounds of play today shooting a 73 in the first round and a 77 in the second round. Her total score on day 2 was 150.
Querol’s impressive scorecard earned her a spot on the podium of the tournament as she placed third in the two-day event.
Redshirt sophomore Elly Walters was not far behind Querol on the scoreboard with a score of 154 landing her a sixth-place finish. Walters was three over par in her first round of the day before dropping to seven over par in her final round of the tournament.
Graduate Students Hannah More and Randi Kim both returned to the team as veterans and provide why they have been key players for the Mavericks.
More started her season with scoring 159 points and landing her in a tie for 13 place. Unlike More, Kim found herself as the lone holder of 16 place with a score of 161.
Freshman Sadie Kelley played as an individual tournament for her first and started her college golf career tied for 25 place. While sophomore Brea Tyrus finished not too far behind her tied for 34 places.
The Mavericks look to improve on their season when they head to Amarillo, Texas on Oct. 4 and start the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational at 8 A.M.
