The Mavericks offense dominates the Hawks

The Mavericks had six players with two or more points in a dominant 17-3 win.

The Mavericks graduate transfer attackman James Booth led all scorers with seven points helping his team to a dominant 17-3 win.  

Colorado Mesa University (CMU) had 13 players register a point against the Hawks.  

Freshman Colin Seedorf controlled the faceoff x as he went 17 of 22 with 17 ground balls. The Mavericks outworked the Hawks as they picked up 15 more groundballs than Shorter University (SU). 

SU’s goaltender Richard Ticer made 23 saves on 40 shots faced. The Mavericks shot the ball 54 times and got 74 percent of their shots on cage.

CMU freshman goaltender Nolan Hoffman made his first collegiate start coming away with seven saves. The Mavericks defense made it tough for SU’s offense but easy for their goalie as they caused 15 turnovers. 

The Hawks scored the first two goals of the game, but CMU went had two seven or more goal runs that put the game out of reach. SU scored their final goal with 6:36 left in the first half.  

Booth scored one goal and had three assists in the second half as he dissected the defense.  

Booth led by example with his ball movement as he picked apart the defense to come away with five assists in the game. Freshman attackman/midfielder Aj Switzer was the second-leading scorer for the Mavericks with three goals and two assists. 

The Mavericks controlled the possession time in the second half as they went 100 percent on clears and caused 10 turnovers.  

Redshirt freshman midfielder/attackman Braden Plock scored the first two goals of his CMU career.  

CMU’s next game will be Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. in their first home game of the season against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Adams State University.
