Kyle Leahy continued his dominant form Friday night.
The Colorado Mesa Baseball welcomed Colorado School of Mines to town for the first game of their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Pods on Friday.
Leahy followed-up his masterful start last Friday against New Mexico Highlands with another one. After a first inning run stemming from an RBI infield single and two other hits, he only allowed two more hits in the next eight innings. On the way Leahy proceeded to strike out 11 Orediggers en route to his second complete game on the year.
The Mavericks offense responded in the bottom of the first and tied the game back up at one. PJ Gonzalez led the game off with a double and was moved to third on a groundout by JJ Carr. Kyle Serrano and Bligh Madris walked and Garrett Ball flew out to centerfield to score Gonzalez.
Gonzalez got the rally started in the bottom of the 3rd when he was hit by a pitch. Serrano doubled and advanced Gonzalez to third. Madris walked and Gonzalez scored on a wild pitch.
Ball delivered the knockout blow as he doubled and drove in Serrano and Madris to give the Mavericks 4-1 lead.
Leahy improved to 7-0 on the year and maintained his 1.02 ERA.
The Mavericks will take on Colorado Christian University tomorrow afternoon with an estimated start time of 3:30 p.m.
