This past Saturday, Colorado Mesa University’s men’s and women’s triathlon teams competed at the NCAA West Regional at the Berkeley Marina in Berkeley, Calif.
The race, hosted by USA Triathlon and the University of California-Berkeley, consisted of a 750 meter loop swim, a 20 kilometer bike ride made up of three loops on a bike track and a 5 kilometer run comprised of two loops.
CMU’s women competed against teams such as the defending national women’s triathlon team champion Arizona State, UC-Berkeley and Montana State. The Maverick men competed against teams from Cal Poly, UC-San Diego, UC-Davis, UC-Berkeley, UCLA and Stanford.

On the women’s side, Hannah Brockie was CMU’s top finisher, placing 24 in a time of 1:15:11. She was followed by Abigaille Young, who placed 30 in a time of 1:25:09.
On the men’s side, Ethan McNally was CMU’s top finisher, placing 16 in a time of 1:06:42. He was followed by Wyatt Colloty in 17 place with a time of 1:07:21, Kyle Jones in 19 with a time of 1:09:43 and Ethan Petersen in 21 with a time of 1:13:47.
The team travels next to Boulder City, Nev. for the Pumpkinman Triathlon on Oct. 21.
