Floyd Collins is a bluegrass musical based on a true story of a Kentucky spelunker.
In an unexplored Sand Cave, Collins explores its depths hoping to turn it into a tourist attraction.
But in his quest for glory he ventures too far into the deep depths of a cave and his leg gets lodges into a crevice trapping him 200 feet below the surface.
“The attempt to rescue him becomes a national effort and sparks one of the biggest news sensations the nation has ever seen, with Collins himself tragically becoming the tourist attraction. With a musical style that draws from bluegrass and Americana, ‘Floyd Collins’ is a transcendent modern musical.” the Colorado Mesa University Floyd Collins Marketing page said.
Floyd Collins premiers tonight at 7:30 p. m. in Robinson Theater and will run its show for two weeks, until Saturday, March 18.
Tickets are available for purchase at the door and are free to all CMU students.
