Letter to the Editor: Treehouse residents speak out

2416

As a band of roommates, athletes, students, and brothers we together are taking a stand against the derogatory article publicly shared and falsely depicts the core value of who we are, and who we will forever be etched in our community.

We get it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but what this article is, is much more than that. We are much more than that. We are dedicated, hardworking student athletes. Most of us are new tenants to the treehouse. Moving in during the pandemic and getting acclimated to the new way of life has been first and foremost our priority.

In our opinion, we find Kaylas decision to publicly vilify us, insult our characters, and suggest our mannerisms are in need of improvement without personally knowing who we are as individuals is slanderous, derogatory and infringes on our character. Alluding to the “generations of rumors” only add to the systematic problem of vilifying us as students, who have every right to live here in this house together. Perhaps writing an article about ways in which all off campus houses could enhance the safety and cleanliness surrounding the campus would be far more valuable.

Again, we are band of brothers, we care about our CMU experience. We are inclusive in suggesting that we are not a valuable part of our community is reprehensible.

Together we would publicly like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support on our behalf regarding this article.

Sincerely,

Zachary Elefante, Jesse Rodriguez, Nathan Deitrick, Max Ward
