In honor of Valentine’s Day, KMSA, the radio station for CMU, held a masquerade semi-formal on Feb. 14. The dance took place in the University Center ballroom and was open to anybody and everybody.

There was a photo booth, a DJ and alcoholic beverages for those students of age. Students wore everything from ballgowns to casual dresses, suits to button-up shirts and all kinds of masquerade masks.

“It’s really great to see the variety of people out having fun [and] dancing,” KMSA’s web director, Brenna Rhiness, said.

The masquerade ball was the first of its kind here at CMU. The first event for any organization is going to be small at first but hopefully grow over time.

“Honestly, I’m really surprised by our turnout [and] the amount of tickets that we sold, especially for it being a first-year event,” Rhiness said.

According to CMU student Whitney Huckins, the dance was a great time.

“I think the crew did an amazing job with the dance; the lights, the decorations. The turnout was really incredible and also just a blast,” Huckins said. “I [thought] the music [was] great. They’ve got some great bops to dance to where you literally kill your feet [and] the light music was a great add-on too.”

Opportunities to get out and enjoy a night of fun activities are available all around CMU. Don’t forget to check out the tables in the University Center to see what events are coming up next!
