Colorado Mesa University (CMU) started off Unity Fest on April 1 with the Food Festival from the International Student Alliance (ISA) in the Plaza outside the University Center from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

All the food that was a part of ISA’s Food Festival was offered for free to any student that showed up and would like to try, as well as music for all to enjoy.

ISA’s Food Festival provided food from different cultures around the world, as well as music. “We have Mexico, Saudi Arabia, American, Japanese, Cambodian, British, and Pilipino [foods],” CMU student Omar Shawly said.

Shawly was making food out in the Plaza in support of ISA. “I am helping my brother right here doing some chicken for his taquitos,” Shawly said. Shawly is excited for what Unity Fest has to come.

Unity Fest will continue throughout the week of April 1-6. The next event will be the Ask the Gays Panel hosted by the CMU Gay Straight Alliance on Tuesday, April 2 in room 318 inside Escalante Hall from 5-7 p.m.
