Shopping in stores may become a thing of the past

1403

Not far off campus there is a mall for community members and students at Colorado Mesa University to shop at. Yet, it seems as though a lot of stores have been shutting their doors as of late.

A few years ago when Sports Authority closed it came as a shock to some since it seemed like a decently popular sporting store. Now Sears and Herbergers in Grand Junction are shutting down. These popular stores to shop in seem to be disappearing as more and more are turning to online shopping resources.

For those who still love in person shopping – what are they left with and what is going to close next?

Target is possibly one of the best places for CMU students to go. It has practically everything you may need such as clothes, home accessories, food, and nearly anything else. This store is national and will most likely not be closing their doors anytime soon. Yet no one truly thought Sports Authority would either.

There is a Goodwill that most would never think of going into, but college students can get good quality items for a price that will not break the bank. Don’t be embarrassed, for you are shopping smart.

There is also Walmart that has all necessities any person may need.

Yet, the personal stores like Herbergers or PacSun and other shops alike may be shutting doors and relying on web pages. Basically, it is time to switch to the online game. Purchases are simple, there is quick delivery and most have free and easy returns. What is not to like about online shopping? They frequently have discounts, items that range from soap to underwear, all the accessories and cleaning supplies you could think of and it is all with just a few swipes and clicks of your hand.

Online shopping may be the cause of the amount of stores closing down, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t hop on board that train. If you don’t like online shopping I fear that soon the only stores to remain open will be the Walmarts and Targets of the world and they will only remain open for personal shopping for clothing, home accessories, groceries and other basic needs.

Accessibility is important for college students who are busy enough running around campus. With online shopping through Amazon to Victoria Secret.com it is just easier to make purchases online. The stores have felt this online movement and the fade of human interaction from their stores, leaving empty buildings.

Find where you like to shop and then look online. You might just be surprised by the benefits.
