Bring on the cooler weather

It's that time of year for sweaters!

The beginning of October has brought cooler weather with it. Along with the cooler temperatures came the rain.

Boy did we need that. Not only that, but fall also brought us the color changes of our trees and foliage. Who can deny that beauty?

For those of us who live here in the valley, it was a breath of fresh air from the sweltering heat of the summer. Many have been longing for that cool weather in which you can wear your sweaters, or even hoodies, if that is what you desire. As soon as the weather changed, I couldn’t wait to pull out some of my own winter swag.

When the weather is cooler, most tend to spend more time indoors studying. Some still find outdoor activities to do. Just think, you can do hikes or bicycle in the monument without the fear of literally sweating to death.

Although it may be too cold to jump into a lake and swim, it is a great time for fishing as well. And many seek out the movie theater more often. Others just lounge around for the much-needed relaxation.

The cooler weather also makes for a more enjoyable Homecoming Bonfire too! I vote let’s get some marshmallows and roast them at the bonfire! I know, I know, not a good idea. But you can always go to one of the nearby parks and do that by using the barbecue pits that the City of Grand Junction has made available for use. That sure sounds like an idea!

So, what kind of winter do you think we are going to have? An almost non-existent one like last year? Or do you think we are in for a doozy of one this year? I, personally, don’t know. I do know that I want to at least see some snow stick to the ground this year.

I am 43 years old, but I still love to make snowballs and have snowball fights. Who doesn’t?

As much as some of us complain about the cold weather, we can’t seem to wait for it the next year. We tend to say it is too hot or it is too cold, but deep down we love our weather all year-round.
