Smoking weed has become as acceptable as drinking a beer in Colorado. It’s evident in the way that dispensary after dispensary keeps popping up. There’s not just one place to get your weed from, and it’s hard choosing a place to get your weed because, like a finely brewed beer, they’re not all the same.
So, where is the best to get it from? Between Grand Junction and Rifle there are approximately 10 dispensaries. Here are the ones that have some dope deals and some doper dope:
Tumbleweed dispensaries: This little gem is located in Parachute, Colo., which is only about 45 minutes away from Grand Junction. Tumbleweed has always been my favorite for many reasons. They have a large selection of bud and they have many forms of THC for whatever you could want.
The staff is knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you might have. Go on your 21st birthday and they will sell you a joint for a dollar. If smoking marijuana isn’t your thing, they have tons of edibles, including chocolates, gummies and a powder form that you can basically pour over anything. Attached to Tumbleweed is their drive through.
Tumbleweed Drive Through: This is my second favorite just because it’s a weed drive through. How cool is that? So basically, you drive your car into this garage that is the dispensary and they check ID’s and then close the door behind you. This is kind of an experience in itself. The selection is a little less than at the original Tumbleweed, however, they do have a pretty sweet deal. Download the app Weedmaps and give Tumbleweed a review to get a penny joint. Yes, a joint for a penny, a true stoner’s dream.
Kush Gardens: Kush Gardens is located in De Beque so it’s a little bit closer than Tumbleweed. It’s about a 35-minute drive versus 45 minutes. I think the selection might be slightly less than that of Tumbleweed. The reason to go to Kush Gardens is because of the deals they offer on Fridays and Mondays. A regular ounce that would usually be $330 is sold at $150 on Fridays and Mondays. Typically, you don’t get to pick the ounce but there is usually about five or six strains to choose from. These strains include two strains of sativa, two strains of indica, and two hybrids (a mix of sativa and indica). They also throw in a free pipe! Free pipe y’all!
Colorado Alternative Health: This is on my list just because of how close it is, and how cool the people are. I went in with a friend and literally asked the guy to explain every product to me and he didn’t get annoyed. It was impressive, really. It is a little pricey, but I justify it by saying that I’m not spending the gas money to go to De Beque or Parachute. Location is definitely key to this place, as it is the closest dispensary to Grand Junction and it’s right next to the distillery and brewery. Really it’s a one-stop shop for all your bad habits. How can you beat that?
There is something for everyone in these little gems and all of them are right off I-70. Some of these places are worth checking out just for the deals. Even if you’re not an avid toker, the experience of visiting a dispensary is an adventure in itself.
