Shrieking, slamming and screaming galore.
This past Halloween Holly Daugherty, Academic Success Coach, spearheaded the idea for a haunted house. The Office of Student Success staff, including campus mentors and students, saw the fruition of this idea in Albers Hall.
“Everyone’s entitled to one good scare,” Daugherty said. The event was open to “anyone looking for a fun event the night of Halloween,” Daugherty said. The cost of entry was a can of food, can-opener or a dollar per person – all of which were donated to the on campus food bank which is located in Albers Hall.
The staff at the Office of Student Success held a booth at Trick or Treat street happening the same day to help promote Haunted Albers and to hand out candy to attendees.

“Depending on the success of this year, we hope that this will be the start to a reoccurring event,” Daugherty said. Haunted Albers was open 7 to 9 pm Halloween night.
The haunted hospital themed event was intended to “create an opportunity where students and the community can come together to help each other all while having a scarily good time,” Daugherty said.
“We tallied over 200 people coming through! We raised over $120 in cash donations,” and around 300 pounds of food according to Daugherty.
Students, who were being scared, and staff, who were in charge of the scaring, screams were heard outside of Albers throughout the haunted event.
