- What is your favorite place on campus to be?
“I’d say Escalante. All of my classes are in there and I am familiar with the building. It’s also not too loud.”
- What is the number one thing you do in your free time?
“I watch movies, I like a lot of movies. I’ll watch about anything so I can’t really pinpoint a favorite. There’s a few like “The Third Man,” which is from 1949, then I like “North by Northwest,” which is 1959, then “Taxi Driver,” which is 1976. I’ll watch old or new, it doesn’t matter.”
- What is your major and why did you choose it?
“Mass Communication. I chose it because in high school I wrote for the paper and my teacher thought I was good and it was something I liked doing as well.”
- Who has been the biggest inspiration in your life?
“There’s a few. I’ll start with my parents. They’ve always been very supportive and understanding. They are always there for me. Also, Dan Hovseth. He died from lung cancer last year and outside of my parents, he was a big supporter. He was only about 50 when he died and he was actually my friend’s dad. I was very close to him. He made me feel very comforted and he was always supportive. He was just the funniest guy. I enjoyed being around him so much. I really miss him.”
- What is your dream career?
“I hope to write. Being a writer and making money is sometimes mutually exclusive, so hopefully I can find a career path where I can write and also earn a living without having to live paycheck to paycheck.”
- What is your most prized possession?
“I don’t really think I have one. I don’t think of material that much. Being around people, and even animals that love you is what’s important. I think physical is going to represent what people in your life can do for you.”
- Where is your dream location to visit and/or live?
“Maybe somewhere in the mountains being away from everybody, just kind of alone and secluded.”
- What is one of your greatest achievements?
“I think graduating from college. I’m graduating this year. It’s been a long ride to graduate so I think that’s an important achievement.”
- Do you like to read and if so what is your favorite genre/book?
“Yes, I like Stephen King a lot, I’ve read most of his books. I wouldn’t say I’m a horror fan, I just enjoy his books. Let’s see, favorite book; I’d probably go with his Dark Tower Series right now. I just really enjoy those books and it combines every genre imaginable.”
- What is something such as a quote or moral you live by?
“There’s this story of General Grant’s’ first battle my dad always tells me. Grant was tossing and turning before battle and this was his first battle as a general, so he is nervous. So once he got there to the spot of the battle, he realized the other army was just deserted. He realized they were more afraid of him than he was afraid of them. I think that’s just the key to life. Everybody’s nervous to a degree, so you have to use that to your advantage. You don’t have to be heavy in your shyness or anxiety or let it control you. You need to use that to your advantage to realize that you’re not going to go into a situation where someone knows everything. You have to make sure to just not back down.”
