During the Tuesday before Thanksgivng break, students gathered on the Grand Mesa Field to participate in games, listen to live music and enjoy free food. Students were invited to donate canned goods as well.
The event was put on by Dr. Kristen McGee’s Leadership Class to gain practice in event planning. Members of the class worked with Student Services to fund and put on “Mavsgiving.”
Two local food trucks set-up in the parking lot next to the field. They had limited menu options for attendees to choose from and eat for free (Top Left). There were also sandwiches provided by Jimmy John’s. Drinks, chips, cookies, popcorn and cotton candy were handed out by event workers.
Tickets were handed out as people enjoyed the festivities. Later, ticket numbers were called to announce prize winners.
Many clubs had tables set up with games, including ring toss and cookie decorating (Middle Left and Bottom Right).
Inflatables were blown up on the outskirts of the field. Football games and bean bags tosses gave the event a carnival-like feel (Top Right and Bottom Left).
Local band MoonBeem performed covers to event goers. However, they did not perform the entire time. When the band was not singing, music was played on speakers, many being well-known line dances. People lined up in front of the stage to participate.
