The Cultural Inclusion Council’s (CIC) fashion show will return to campus for its fourth annual celebration of the many cultures represented at Colorado Mesa University (CMU). The show will be in the University Center ballroom on March 5th, at six in the evening.
While CMU hosts a variety of events throughout this year, CIC’s fashion show is unique in the way it entertains, educates and inspires Mavericks.
“The fashion show is an opportunity for the CIC to offer an educational and fun experience for students to learn about the different alliances that we have on campus and our culture,” CIC Assistant Director Mahlet Mamo said. “For me personally, it’s been a way to show the really cool ways that black culture has impacted our country, communities and society as a whole.”
This and many other beloved aspects of the fashion show will return, but with many new improvements. For the first time, the CIC’s fashion show will include a three-course meal and alcoholic drinks. In addition to this, each alliance will focus on topical issues in their community.
“For the most part, most of the alliances are touching on issues within their own communities and bringing awareness to those issues in a runway fashion type of way,” Communications Director for CIC Nayeli Hernández said.

Mavs searching for a fun evening out where they can drink and learn at the same time need to look no further, as this once-a-year event is not one to miss.
“I believe it’s the best event on campus if I’m being honest. When you get to experience all these different cultures, but in such an energetic and fun way, with music and lights, it’s just a great way to have a good time,” Mahlet said.
