After a disappointing year of canceled events, like the spring concert featuring Blackbear, students were presented with a very special treat by PAC this fall.
The special guest coming to perform for Colorado Mesa University (CMU) was the band Surfaces, the chill pop-soul duo that came to the stage and gave the students a night to remember. Unfortunately, the opener of the show could not attend the concert last minute, but Surfaces did not disappoint.
In total, three lucky winners entered the VIP raffle from the Programs Activity Council (PAC) Instagram page and two students from student life had the opportunity to meet the band. Before the band performed, they met these students face to face and had just enough time for a picture and some small talk.
Hannah Wilford has listened to Surfaces for over a year and they actually opened with her favorite song, “Hide Away”. Hannah’s weekend was made and she has photos and videos to commemorate the experience.
AJ Iarusso was also one of the winners. He said he was excited about getting this kind opportunity.
“Just to see them performing, live concerts are always cool.” Iarusso said.
Iarusso describes what he was most looking forward to. Iarusso made sure the band loved Colorado when they met, and obviously they did. PAC made it super easy for the VIP winners to meet the band and have a special experience backstage before the concert.
Isabel Gregan has been listening to Surfaces for over 2 years and commented as many times as she could on PAC’s Instagram for a chance to win. Gregan and all the other winners were given a signed poster from the band as a cool keepsake from their experience. Although they didn’t play her favorite song, “Keep it Gold”, she still knew every single song they played.
This event could not have been possible without everyone involved in PAC this fall semester. The students are entirely grateful for the concert experience.
