SpaceX recently announced that it will be setting up a new base in Grand Junction.
Elon Musk and scientists at SpaceX planned on having their Dragon rocket land in the middle of the desert. After a miscalculation, the rocket landed on top of Colorado Mesa University’s (CMU) Center for Reflection. Due to the fact that no one uses the Center, there were no casualties.
“After feeling guilt for the first time in my life, I thought, ‘why not build a new base.’ Now that I say it out loud, I probably could have just rebuilt the center. Gosh dang,” Elon Musk said after sending another Tesla into space.
After the first base is built where the Reflection Center was, CMU plans on having its first Mars branch of the college built (Colorado Mars University). CMU plans on a steady influx of Martian students to join the college after the new Mars campus is built as well.
CMU is excited for the extremely loud construction to once again replace a quiet corner of campus.
