Experience helped the Mavericks on day two of the South Central Region Fall Preview.
For the second weekend in a row, the Colorado Mesa University(CMU) Men’s Golf Team placed second with a score of 862. The team was also two under par for the whole tournament.
Redshirt junior Kyle Pearson finished the tournament, leading the Mavericks with a score of 213. Pearson was one out of six golfers in the tournament to shoot a 67 on the golf course this week. He ended his time in El Paso, Texas tying for eighth place.
Redshirt freshman Peter Grossenbacher was not far behind Pearson in tenth place. Grossenbacher shot 71 on the day, totaling his score of 214.
Freshman Yael Chahin started in the Maverick lineup for the first time in his college career. He went two-over-par with a score of 218 and finished out the third round with a score of 76.
Redshirt freshman Ethan Bishop and Junior Dane Anger finished out the tournament for CMU. Bishop had a total score of 222, hitting six over par as he finished tied for 30 place.
Anger hit seven over par and only finished a stroke behind Bishop giving him a score of 223. Anger would finish tied for 33 place.
Redshirt freshman Bray Lambrecht played as an individual in the tournament for CMU. He finished the tournament tied for 60 place and shot a 237. In the third round, he shot a 76 to end his day.
The Mavericks stay in Colorado for their next tournament. They will play in the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invite at CSU Pueblo on Oct. 5. The tournament will be played at Walking Stick Golf Course beginning at 9 a.m.
