It’s around this time every school year when we all need a little pick me up. The winter blues sometimes get us all down, but what better way to kick them than jamming to your best hype song? Several students here at Colorado Mesa University shared their favorite hype song with us and told us just what makes it the perfect candidate. We compiled them all into a playlist for everyone to enjoy.
No Hands by Waka Flocka Flame: freshman Payton Pemberton’s favorite hype song.
“The beat of the song gets my adrenaline rushing and also Waka Flocka is just a genius,” Pemberton said.
The Distance by Cake: sophomore Erin O’Neill’s favorite hype song.
“It’s just fun. The chorus is he’s going the distance, he’s going for speed and you always have to be going for distance and speed,” O’Neill said.
Blinding Lights by The Weeknd: junior Colton Rupple’s favorite hype song.
Magic in the Hamptons by Social House ft. Lil Yachty: freshman Kailey Case’s favorite hype song.
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor: freshman Mandy McAfee’s favorite hype song.
“I remember watching it in Rocky all the time and thinking it was such a good song to work out to. It was also my walkout song,” McAfee said.
Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne: freshman Tyler Meyers’s favorite hype song.
“You know you just jam out in your car to it,” Meyers said.
Headband by 2 Chains and B.O.B: freshman Hannah Warner’s favorite hype song.
“When you’re pushing out that last set in the gym it really puts you into the mood to pump it out,” Warner said.
Sandstorm by Darude: freshman Brian Joya’s favorite hype song.
“It’s good for working out. It’s that hype song that motivates you to do a lot of work and stand up,” Joya said.
VIBEZ by DaBaby: sophomore Justin Platt’s favorite hype song.
“It bops,” Platt said.
Hot Shower by Chance the Rapper: sophomore Nathan Harris’s favorite hype song.
“It’s just goofy and a lot of fun,” Harris said.
Sue Me by Sabrina Carpenter: sophomore Eowyn Larson’s favorite hype song.
“It’s the song I usually play in the morning and it just wakes me up,” Larson said.
Werewolf by Quinn XCII: sophomore Katelynn Schwerdtfeger’s favorite hype song.
“I just love it! I’ve been playing it nonstop for a while,” Schwerdtfeger said.
S.O.S. by The Glorious Sons: sophomore Eli Rodasta’s favorite hype song.
“My buddy turned it on while we were painting houses this summer and we were so hype the whole time. It makes you want to work faster,” Rodasta said.
Ayy Ladies by Travis Porter ft. Tyga: freshman Rylee Hupp’s favorite hype song.
“It just puts you in a good mood and hypes you up. It always gets me going for the day,” Hupp said.
Though the beginning of the second semester, along with cold weather and stress, often make it difficult for us to stay motivated, music is an excellent way to kick the blues and help us get going. Let’s tackle this semester together!
