Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty five days a year. The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) at Colorado Mesa University is always available to students in need.
According to Liz Howell, Director of Student Support Operations at CMU, “The SART team was started to assure that any CMU student who needs access to resources related to a sexual assault can access those resources in a timely manner and get the assistance they need.”
Training for members of the Sexual Assault Response Team include annual and on-going training, and the team consists of over 20 staff and faculty volunteers.
“We offer on-going training and communicate as a team as often as needed to ensure we’re supporting students to the best of our ability,” Howell said. These team members act as advocates and as first responders for any CMU student who might need them.
“We firmly believe that even if we help just one student in need we’ve accomplished our goal of supporting every student at CMU,” Howell said. When asked who can utilize SART as a resource, she responded, “any CMU student – at any time.”
