Every year, high school journalism students from around the state flock to Colorado Mesa University for CMU Media Day, an event that features a competition for high school yearbook and newspaper programs, seminars and a tour of the Mass Communication program.
The CMU Public Relations Club runs the event, which will take place Monday, March 4 this year. High school journalism programs will gather for registration at 8 AM and participate in seminars and activities throughout the morning. Mass Communication students also volunteered to lead tours that include Escalante Hall, the Maverick Center and the University Center. Information about the Mass Communication program and student publications will be available for the students.
Lunch will then be served prior to an awards ceremony. High school programs can win placements in yearbook design, writing, photography, website, and newspaper reporting.
The event helps inform graduating high school seniors about CMU’s mass communication programs and organizations, helping attract prospective students to the university.
