Maverick awards open

The fourth annual Maverick Awards will be held at 2 p.m. on May 10 in the University Center ballroom. Maverick Awards are given to students, faculty and staff who have been nominated by their peers for outstanding roles in the CMU community.

The nomination form includes a letter of recommendation explaining the qualities and excellence set forth by the person or group being recommended for the award. Mitch Karstens, Director of Student Life, won the Maverick Award for Organization Leader of the Year for the 2012-2013 school year.

“It’s important to have the opportunity to recognize the outstanding work that our students, faculty and staff do on campus,” Karstens said. “Students should nominate people that have helped them in a wide area across campus.”

Nominations will be accepted through April 14 and will be reviewed by the Associated Student Government Maverick Awards Committee. Finalists will be notified of their recognition by April 18. Self-nominations will not be allowed.
