CMU Athletic Director Tom Spicer and the men’s soccer team have selected Todd Padgett as the program’s new head coach.

Padgett takes over the Mavs, who won the RMAC tournament championship in November. Padgett is a former player and coach at Fort Lewis College and, until taking over the Mavs, was coaching the women’s program at Eastern New Mexico University.

“I’m confident I’m the guy for the job, and I expect to make this program a national contender year in and year out,” Padgett said.

Padgett said he is excited to coach a group of guys with a chip on their shoulders after being left out of the national tournament.

“I know [the team] was disappointed and felt like they deserved to be playing for a national title, and I’ll be stepping into a great situation with these guys.”
