Spin City: not geared toward college students

Spin City is Grand Junction’s newest addition in family-fun entertainment. The attraction has been open now for about a month and combines fun, popular arcade games with bowling, laser tag and roller skating.

People of all ages can choose which activity they want to do, or if you feel like spending the extra money, to take part in all of it. The place is relatively pricey for a poor college student, considering just being able to enter the roller skating rink and rent skates is $11 – $12, not including any participation in the arcade games. If you forget socks, like I did, you can buy a pair for an additional $3.

If you want to try skating, bowling and laser tagging, it will cost you about $30. Spin City offers typical theme park-type food like hot dogs, pizza and fries. They also have a special “Spin City” menu with classier items like seared salmon cooked with veggies and potatoes. For only $7, their more intricate entrees are well worth it and are presented gourmet-style, especially for a place that also sells deep-fried Oreos.

Spin City is great for a night of wholesome fun at a reasonable but not necessarily cheap price. Drawbacks include that the place doesn’t sell alcohol and it was packed with elementary and high school kids.
