The Artful Cup: coffee for a cause

William R. Alger, a unitarian minister and author, once said, “After every storm, the sun will smile, for every problem, there is a solution and the soul’s indefeasible duty is to be of good cheer.”

The Artful Cup, a local coffee shop, bestows that same idea of good cheer to Miller Homestead, a Grand Junction grief counseling center. The proceeds from this quaint coffee shop support the child and teen grief program of HopeWest.

The Artful Cup is a sanctuary for relaxation and relief.

Described as the “perfect blend of Espresso and Imagination,” The Artful Cup offers the sale of local artwork and hand-crafted merchandise such as jewelry and ceramics. And that’s not to mention their quality chai tea latte.

The barista made a perfectly balanced cup of chai and soy creamer that left me wanting more. The original building was established in 1889, making it one of Grand Junction’s oldest historical buildings.

Restored in 2007, the Artful Cup is modern, eclectic, tidy and spacious. The menu options are limited but include all the classic espresso treats. If looking for a full meal, The Artful Cup isn’t the place to find it. However, if you’re looking for a place to read and relax, there is solitude to be found at The Artful Cup. The well-kept outside landscape of flowers, shrubs and grass can be enjoyed at any of the numerous window seats.

The Artful Cup has delicious coffee that tastes even sweeter knowing that it’s directly benefitting the community.
