Wednesday night, groups of guys (and a few girls) flocked to the game room, preparing for the billiards tournament. Many of them had never played in a billiards tournament before.
“This is the first tournament I’m in,” participant Alanna Deeb said. “It’s just for fun.”
Many of the games dragged on while the players battled back and forth, but some games seemed to last only seconds. One player who managed to do this was tournament winner Yi Liu. Liu has been playing for about 10 years after a friend of his got him into pool.
“In China, there is not enough space to play basketball, so most people play pool,” Liu said. “My friends played, so I just joined in.”
Liu beat Josh Kilduff in the final round, leaving Kilduff with a close second.
