Editorial: Crite lauded at Nat’l awards

The Criterion was awarded third place for Best of Show by the Associated Collegiate Press. Of all the college weekly newspapers in the country, the Crite placed third. Needless to say, we as a staff could not be more proud.

But more importantly, we know this achievement would not be possible without support from the students. You are the voice of this publication!

It is the students that make the Crite what it is today. We may spend student fees, but we use every dime of it to improve your newspaper, and it puts this campus on the map. Our staff has made sure to represent the students and administration the best way possible.

We sincerely thank you students for the voice that guides this paper. That’s been this publication’s goal for many years. Students have come to us on plenty of occasions to express their opinions, and that’s made a big impact.

Perhaps we should toot out own horn for a little bit. Each member of our staff works as hard as possible to put together each issue. Our reporters and photographers get better each week, allowing us to keep growing.

It’s almost impossible to explain how much time and effort the editorial staff puts into the Criterion. On work days especially, each person puts in hours upon hours of work to put together the voice of the students. It takes a special group of people to be able to withstand so much work, but they pull through and make sure each voice is heard.

Our staff has continued to improve, and it brings much satisfaction that we are nationally recognized for our success. We understand whom we work for, and we are thankful for all students that have had a voice.
