Last Tuesday, students showed off their finest masks and beads in the University Center at the Peer Motivation Club’s Mardi Gras Masquerade. The dance was meant to bring students together and also give them a chance to win some prizes. There was a best costume contest and door prizes, which included an Android tablet and a video mp3 player.

The dance did not get the turnout the club had expected after over 200 people showed up to their Halloween dance last semester, but they remain optimistic.

“We learned Tuesday is not a good day for a dance party,” club president Brent Gilana said. “But we have a lot of other activities planned this semester.”

The club plans to have an open mic night with prizes, more dance parties and a dance-off.
