ASG update

Last Wednesday’s ASG meeting drew a larger crowd than normal as there were 15 philosophy enthusiasts in attendance to give their public input about making philosophy a major at CMU.

“I think philosophy is super, super important to college, and if we are going to be called a University, I think we should probably consider it,” Philosophy Club President Andy Bowen said.

There was only positive discussion among the senators about the topic.

“I’m in full agreeance (sic), I believe this University does need a philosophy major rather than a minor,” senator Brian Causaus said.

In new business, three bills were passed with near unanimous vote. GEMS was granted $1,843.30 to aid with costs for its biannual Save A Life Day. The Men and Women’s ski teams were given $3,148.28 broke up into two separate bills. This money will be used for the teams to go to regional competition for the first time in Red Lodge, Mont. The money was broken into separate bills as only the Women’s team had a definite seat in the competition.

Open seats were also filled Wednesday night. Junior Political Science student Stuart Foster was appointed as a Supreme Court Justice, and sophomore Construction Management student Kenny Machi was appointed as a Senator-at-Large.
