Marshall Anderson and Alex Forsett, founders of the SnowSlay club, combined their mutual love for skiing and snowboarding to provide students with a median between the school and resorts. The SnowSlay shuttle provides all students at CMU an opportunity to ride to Powderhorn on the weekends.

“The more people we can get into this, the bigger we can make it, and the more resorts we can go to,” Snow Slay Club President Marshall Anderson said. “It’s the student’s choice whether or not they want to use it. We don’t profit from it. All the money goes to paying for gas.”

Only enrolled students at CMU are able to gain access to the snow slay. The round trip fees are $6 for Powderhorn and $15 for Telluride.

SnowSlay began at the start of the season and has quickly become popular within the snowboarding and skiing community at CMU.

“CMU is in the middle of some of the finest mountain resorts on earth, and we wanted to help promote these winter activities,” Forsett said.

As a growing number of students begin to use this mode of transportation, the deals for day-passes and other expenses are discounted by the resort. Currently, Powderhorn gives discount ‘P-Cards’ to students that take the shuttle for $49. This includes a day ticket and 20 percent off each additional day.

“We wanted to be a club that would allow for students to connect with other students who have the common passion of skiing and snowboarding,” Forsett said. “Overall, transportation was key, and we are hoping through this club we see where students ride the most and be able to provide that transportation service.”

As the season progresses, the club does too with new resorts to visit such as Vail and better discounts for students taking the shuttle. As a university set between many of the best slopes, SnowSlay club provides a long-awaited shuttle for those who enjoy winter activities and care to save themselves the hassle of driving.
