CMU Ambassadors will be sponsoring a ski and snowboard swap Friday, Nov. 16 as a fundraiser for their program.

Students can sell their used ski and snowboard equipment to earn some cash or buy new stuff for the upcoming season. There will be a wide selection of gear available. Vendors include Gene Taylor’s, Casual Culture, Sunlight Ski and the Bike Shop, as well as individual consignments.

Maddie Taylor, a sophomore majoring in K-12 Music Education and Vocal Performance, is the head of fundraising for the Ambassador Program.

“I wanted to think of a fundraiser that would not only be successful, but one that could get CMU students and the community involved on campus,” Taylor said.

The swap will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. in the University Center before the screening of Warren Miller’s Flow State movie. The production is an annual ski and snowboard movie featuring famous athletes riding some of the best ski and boarding mountains worldwide, including Telluride.

“My dad, Tony Taylor, has been in the ski business for a long time and he thought a ski and board swap would be a great tradition to start at CMU,” Taylor said.

The ambassador program is a four-year scholarship awarded to a group of student leaders that work to recruit students.

“As an Ambassador, you give tours around campus, work in the admissions office, and do community service projects,” Taylor said. “Our main goal is to represent Colorado Mesa and recruit new students.”

The Ambassadors will also being working with Adopt-a-Family this season to help provide families in need with Christmas gifts. For more information or to get involved contact Joel Schnierle at jschnier@mavs.coloradomesa.edu.
