College students may be too old for trick-or-treating now, but it is never too late to enjoy Trick or Talent.
PR Club hosts its first Trick or Talent show Thursday. Students can head up to the University Center ballroom at 7 p.m. to watch their brave peers show off their skills for just a buck.
“This is our first one ever, but we hope to make it an annual event,” PR club president Ashley Foley said.
They hope to find a wide range of talents to showcase, but so far this hasn’t been easy.
“Our biggest challenge has been to find willing participants,” Professor Dan Flenniken said. “So far we’ve got a backwards piano player and a couple of singing numbers.”
Along with entertainment for students, Trick or Talent is a food drive for the homeless. Students attending are encouraged to bring canned food, which will be donated to the local food bank.
The event will be judged by faculty and students with prizes going to the best talents.
“We have a bunch of different prizes,” PR Club Treasurer Katie Bock said.
The winner will receive a basket of goods, including gift certificates and coffee mugs.
PR club will provide everything for contestants except instruments and amplifiers. Students interested in participating in the talent show can fill out a sign-up form at the University Center information desk.
