CJA hosts dodgeball tournament vs. GJPD

This Thursday students will match up against the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sherriff’s Deputies in the ultimate showdown. The Criminal Justice Association is hosting a CMU vs. Cops dodgeball tournament.

“It’s mainly fundraising,” CJA Event Coordinator Lauren Taylor said. “We are looking to send a group of students to a Criminal Justice Conference. Last year I went and it was in New York.”

The event will be held in the Mav Pav at 4 p.m. The cost is $5 a person to play and all proceeds will go to supporting CJA. Teams of 10-15 people are encouraged to wear costumes. Students are also allowed to come solo and join a team.

“We will all be participating too,” Taylor said. “We will fill in for other teams too if they need.”

This is the first year that CJA has hosted an event like this. They are also selling spirit cups and distributing child ID kits.

“This year many of our officers for Criminal Justice Association are graduating,” Taylor said. “We have a lot of spots opening up for students to come get involved.”
