Brawl leads to Shooting at Infinity nightclub

A 21-year-old woman was shot last weekend in the parking lot of Grand Junction’s Infinity Nightclub.

“Dispatch got the call at 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning, October 14,” Information and Communication Manager for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Heather Benjamin said.

All patrol deputies were on scene after a man in his 20s pulled out a gun and shot the woman. She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. Authorities say the shooting happened after a fight broke out as the nightclub was near closing.

The suspect is not to be confused with the owner of the gun, who went to Clifton Liquors around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16.

“He came into my liquor store looking like he had been thrown out of a moving vehicle,” employee Jared Rouse said.

Although the suspect has been identified, no arrests have been made.

Investigator Henry Stoffel is the head of the investigation but was unavailable for comment due to the case’s active status.
