Riders face repercussions: Citations to be given for reckless rolling

Recent reckless riding incidents have been brought to the attention of ASG, so they have decided to raise campus wide awareness of the situation.

“Reckless riding on bikes, longboards, skateboards, motorized vehicles etc. on campus is not acceptable and must be addressed,” ASG President Telbe Storbeck said.

ASG is working to inform students by handing out information to riders across campus.

“We are hoping to spread campus-wide awareness about the situation because if we continue with the amount of incidents of reckless riding on campus the transporting vehicles in question have the potential of being banned,” Storbeck said.

Reckless riders in violation will be receiving notices on the spot and documented as receiving a flyer of awareness. However, if the problem continues with just a few individuals those individuals will be dealt with separately with reasonably strict fines.

“This is something that we as ASG feel is not in the best interest of the students at the time but we do have to do something about the issue,” Storbeck said.

A major problem area is the parking garage connected to the University Center. It is noted that riding in this area is prohibited so riders in violation could face more severe consequences.

Repercussions are not ASG’s goal. They hope to promote safe riding so that riders and pedestrians can coexist on campus.
