CMU’s women’s soccer team finished 1-0-1 on the weekend with games on Friday and Sunday.

Friday’s game saw the Mavericks unable to hold their three different leads in a back-and-forth battle in a 3-3 tie with West Texas A&M. Freshman midfielder Sarah Pope and sophomore forward Darion Wiegert scored the goals for the Mavericks with two and one respectively in the game.

Sunday’s matchup with Midwestern State ended in a 3-1 victory for the Mavs, who scored early off of a goal by Renae McFadden in the 12th minute and would extend their lead seven minutes later on a goal by Kaitlynn Holt. They would contain the attack of Midwestern for most of the game only giving up one in the 33rd minute before extending their lead once again in the 63rd off a goal by Daniela Salinas.

Next up for the Mavericks is a matchup on Sept. 7 with Angelo State University in Durango.
