This year CMU Programming Activities Council (PAC) is going all out with Welcome Week combining it with Stampede Weekend to make everyone feel welcome their first week at school. The festivities will officially kick off this Friday with tie-die shirt making in Elm Quad.

“Every year we try to go bigger and we try to go better,” said PAC member Sam Glenn.

Glenn said PAC has been working with new student director Mitch Karstens and have been working a lot harder on marketing but “the big struggle is to get people to know about the activities.”

Sunday night is the annual toga party where prizes are given to those dressed in appropriate attire and preceding it is the Wet and Wild Welcome Bash which is a giant water fight catered with water slides, bump and jumps and a variety of water games.

“Mad” Chad Taylor will be showing off his juggling routine in the University Center Ballroom Monday night. Taylor is not your typical juggler: his crazy routines involve chainsaws, skateboards, and bowling balls. He is a Guinness record holder and has been featured on Jay Leno.

Tuesday, an outdoor laser tag company will host a battle in Delta Quad from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday is grocery bingo, which gives students a chance to make a little extra grocery money at the start of the semester. Thursday night is movie night and The Avengers will be playing in the University Center South Ballroom and PAC is encouraging everyone to dress up as their favorite character or superhero.

Friday and Saturday are geared more towards outdoor sports. Friday is a sports inflatable day with bump and jumps and other fun in Delta Quad from 3-6 p.m. then Saturday night gear up for a pool party at Lincoln Park pool from 7:30 to 9:30. DJ Ryan Griz from Magic 93.1 will be there to help get the party going.

All events are paid for by student fees and are free to all CMU students. For more info search for CMU PAC on Facebook and check out their events or give them a call at (970) 248-1750.
