Miike Snow is an underground electro/indie band from Stolkholm, Sweeden, that quickly entered and picked up a large Indie following. Known best for their 2010 Indie hit “Animal.”

With their sophomore release, Miike Snow has more than exceeded expectations, although the new album “Happy to You,” which was released April 3 of this year, has a much darker feel than their first self-titled album. They kept a lot of the melodic baselines and electronic tuning, but put a twist on it. They’ve added in actual instruments with the electro beats, such as drums, trumpets and more. The vocal difference from song to song on this album is astonishing as well, and the lyrics on “Happy to You” are much deeper, but still just as nonsensical as on “Miike Snow.”

When playing this album the whole way through, you find yourself drifting from storyline to storyline as each song passes, and although the emotion is so strong on each track it’s very relaxing. All hope to try and find a band similar to them was lost with the release of this second album. The closest that can be found is some of the progressive indie/electro bands from Europe but none with the same diversity.
On “Happy to You,” they’ve shown their full range as to what they can actually do, and why they have become so large in the first place.
