Leigh Ashman, The Grand Junction Regional Manager at BuzzTown, has found a successful solution to better unite local businesses with the community.

BuzzTown is a social marketing site that contains every local business’ information in the same way as a phone directory. For businesses who want to take it a step further, they are able to work with BuzzTown’s marketing specialists and content managers to gain a large circle of consumers, also known as “friends.”

A Mesa State graduate, Ashman already knew a good deal about Grand Junction’s local scene. Her diverse experience in the communications industry made her fully aware of the competition for recognition on the internet.

“Everything that we do is all about building links for businesses in Google so that it’s easier for their customers to find them,” Ashman said.

They are one of the leaders in search engine optimization.

When most people get on the internet they tend to look for local events, pictures, videos, deals, reviews, and how-tos. These are all included in the criteria that is offered at this site.

Ever since Grand Junction’s BuzzTown went live in September, it has worked with local businesses to create deals. They offer more enticing promotions such as 75 percent off a day at the Grand Junction Climbing Center and 50 percent off burgers at Munchies.

BuzzTown sponsors the Powderhorn bus and worked with a local bar to create donations for a family who lost their home.

“That’s how we market ourselves while taking care of the community,” Ashman said.
