The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a national environmental film festival out of California that is branching out to CMU and other college campuses.

In conjunction with a mini-festival and film showing to be held at CMU in late March, the Outdoor Program and Western Colorado Congress are sponsoring a student competition for a short film to be shown after the film showing.

Participants must create and submit a three-minute short film with an environmental theme of their choice. Some suggested themes are sustainable energy, ecological living in the Grand Valley, activism and nature.

The contest is open to all CMU students and an additional prize will be awarded to the selected film.

Details on how to submit applications for entry are available at www.wccongress.org/contest.htm. Applications are due by Friday. The completed film must be submitted by March 9 with the winner selected on March 16.

The mini-festival will be from 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. March 24 in the University Center Ballroom.

For more information, call the Outdoor Program at 248-1428.
