Admissions locked down Friday morning

At approximately 10 a.m., police officers were dispatched to the Colorado Mesa University admissions office after a prospective student was asked to leave but refused.

“The prospective student needed to do additional paperwork for the application process and didn’t feel that that was right so he got angered,” said Director of Admissions Jared Meier. “He wasn’t really listening to anything that was said so at that point we just needed to end the conversation.”

The prospective student, whose name has not been released, did not make any threats to the school, or any employees of the office. GJPD as well as CMU Campus Security were notified and arrived promptly to diffuse the situation. The admissions office was placed on lockdown for about 15 minutes until the situation was over.
