Student uses magic to communicate

Most students carry a wallet and a couple pens or pencils throughout their day, but Bryan Buzzell carries one extra item, cards. He uses it to practice magic and entertain the people around him.

“I always carry them around with me because you never know when you’ll get to meet someone new, or possibly get a girl’s number,” Buzzell said.

Buzzell’s interest in magic started with his kindergarten teacher who used to do a couple tricks during the day to keep the students engaged and entertained. For Buzzell it led to something more.

Recently, he has started creating new magic by adding multiple effects and turning them into something intriguing.

“The more I practice the better I get, which turns a normal deck of cards into another’s mystery,” Buzzell said.

Buzzell has performed for crowds up to 200 people. The bigger shows get his adrenaline pumping. One magic trick that Buzzell would like to master is “Illusion” by David Copperfield. The trick requires him to separate his top half separated from his bottom half.

Although he does not plan on making a career out of his magic talent, Buzzell plans on using his hobby down the road.

“I will incorporate it into communications which will allow me to gain confidence and public speaking skills,” Buzzell said.
