Anita Castro

Anita Castro, 21, is a junior mass communication major, with a double concentration in public relations/advertising and journalism. Her experience in journalism began in high school, when she worked as a reporter and in various editorial positions for Fruita Monument High School’s monthly newspaper, “The Catalyst.” She was also the top salesperson for the newspaper and was on the high school yearbook staff. She went on to pursue journalism at New Mexico State University, but after a year, she transferred to Colorado Mesa University. She started working for The Criterion in the fall of 2010 as a features reporter, but she has since expanded her horizons by writing for all sections. As special sections editor, she is responsible for producing a themed section every month, complete with a two-page spread and accompanying articles and photos. Evan Linko, 20, is a junior mass communication major, with a concentration in journalism. He began his career as a journalist in high school when he took a Media Technology class at Western Colorado Community College. Unexpectedly, he ended up with an internship at KREX Channel 5. He now manages his own online blog, which you can read by visiting sparkyideal.wordpress.com. As online editor, he is responsible for generating and editing online content throughout the week and providing timely news for The Criterion’s website, www.thecrite.com.
